My husband and I are reaching retirement age and have begun looking for a smaller house to \u201cdownsize\u201d our life. Since we won\u2019t have to worry about traffic or getting to work on time, my sweet hubby has agreed to indulge my desire to live out in the country. “Goodbye city life!”<\/em><\/p>\n

Recently, the weather was sunny and warm-ish, so we decided to take a drive. We didn\u2019t plan where to go, we just buckled up and headed up Hwy 41\/45. When the highways diverged, my husband and I decided to follow 45N and came upon the village of Jackson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

LIving in Jackson Wisconsin<\/h2>\n

Jackson is located in Washington County<\/a>, in southeastern Wisconsin, about 45 minutes from Milwaukee to the northwest. About 7,000 people are living within the village limits. Jackson has a delightful small-town feel, but because it\u2019s close to Milwaukee and Madison, there are big-city amenities within an hour\u2019s drive.<\/p>\n

New Construction in Jackson WI<\/h2>\n

As we continued to explore this amazing village (and fall in love with it), we came across some new construction in Cobblestone Trails<\/a>. Since my husband and I have been talking about downsizing, we decided to stop and look. It was perfect!<\/p>\n

Recently completed, The Cherrywood I i<\/a>s the last condo available in this subdivision. I was happy to see that it was a lovely ranch home with two bedrooms and two full baths. No more running up and down stairs! As we stepped into the entryway and walked into the great room, I looked up at the 13-foot tray ceiling. Wow! The high ceiling plus the tons of sunlight shining through the windows made this area look and feel twice its size.<\/p>\n

I was excited when I noticed a cozy fireplace with slate stone \u2013 at the top of my list of \u201cmust haves\u201d and always important for those long, cold Wisconsin winters. The stone matched the front of the kitchen peninsula, tying the d\u00e9cor of the two rooms together. \"\"

The kitchen has a raised eating area (perfect for feeding our grandchildren) and a center island. The kitchen also has a pantry with great storage, beautiful quartz countertops, and oak stained Shaker-style cabinetry, along with a spacious dining area nearby. \"cherrywood

What can I say about the master bedroom suite, except \u201cremarkable.\u201d It was as if the architect and builder<\/a> were thinking of us when they built it. The airy bedroom has a tray ceiling (just like the great room) with plenty of space for a king-size bed. In the master bath, there\u2019s a roomy, no-step tiled walk-in shower, with a bench and both a rain showerhead and hand-held sprayer. Plus, a walk-in closet!<\/p>\n

But Wait, There\u2019s More! There are an additional bedroom and bathroom, a two-car garage, and a nice sized yard.
The best part? An unfinished basement with an egress window and rough plumbing for a future bathroom. I\u2019m pretty sure we\u2019d use the extra space for an office or turn it into another bedroom for when our kids and grandchildren come to visit. Or maybe both!<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve got to see this condo<\/a>. After a long talk, my husband and I decided we\u2019re not quite ready to move, but in a year or two, we\u2019ll be contacting Cobblestone Builders<\/a> to see what they\u2019ve built next!<\/p>\n

The lush Jackson Marsh and Wildlife Refuge is also nearby, on County Hwy G. Also, I was excited to discover several hiking trails, parks with playground equipment, and a few baseball diamonds. There is a recreation center that\u2019s used for the Boy Scouts\u2019 Klondike Derby, 4-H meetings, 4th of July celebrations, and more. I was also told that in the summer, outdoor movies are offered on the grounds. Small town living at its finest!\r\n
